MixHAI-XR explores how recent advances in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Extended Reality (XR) are transforming both how people interact with AI and how humans and AI agents are represented in digital spaces.
About the workshop
As XR, generative AI, digital twins, avatars, personalized agents, spatial computing, and multimodal sensing converge, immersive systems are no longer only environments in which interaction takes place. They increasingly become intelligent spaces where identities, roles, bodies, voices, behaviors, and expertise can be captured, reconstructed, embodied, adapted, and negotiated.
The workshop is organized around a unifying research question: How should intelligent immersive interfaces represent humans and AI, and how can people understand, control, evaluate, and collaborate with these representations?
MixHAI-XR brings together researchers and practitioners working on human-AI interaction, XR, embodied agents, mixed identities, digital human representations, human factors, ethics, accessibility, design, and evaluation.

Key dates
All deadlines are Anywhere on Earth (AoE). The workshop paper deadlines follow the ACM IUI 2027 workshop schedule and may be refined once the submission system is activated.
Call for papers
We invite researchers, designers, engineers, and practitioners interested in intelligent immersive interfaces, embodied AI, mixed identities, digital human representations, and responsible human-AI interaction in XR.
Submissions may include empirical studies, conceptual frameworks, position papers, design methods, prototypes, system descriptions, evaluation approaches, and domain-specific applications. Authors are encouraged to submit work that opens discussion, identifies challenges, or proposes new ways to connect interaction design with technology-mediated representation.
Submission information
Authors should prepare a Regular or Short paper. Regular papers are at least 10 "standard" pages and short papers at least 5 pages (5-9 "standard" pages without references).
All submissions will be peer-reviewed by the workshop program committee. Acceptance will be based on relevance, quality, originality, clarity, and potential to stimulate discussion.
Accepted workshop papers are expected to be included in the joint IUI 2027 workshop proceedings published at CEUR-WS.org

The workshop aims to produce a preliminary integrated framework that connects the continuum of technology-mediated human representation with the interaction and evaluation dimensions of intelligent XR interfaces. Concrete outputs will include a workshop summary, a structured map of design and evaluation dimensions, and a prioritized research roadmap supporting follow-up collaborations and joint publications.
